Man charged with second-degree murder in West Edmonton homicide

Edmonton police have laid charges following a fatal shooting earlier this week in the city’s west end.

Around 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to a reported disturbance near 56 Avenue and 199 Street.

At the scene, they discovered a vehicle with a deceased male inside.

The death was deemed suspicious, and two men were taken into custody.

An autopsy conducted by the Edmonton Medical Examiner on May 1 confirmed that 33-year-old Emanuelle Moraga of Saskatoon died from multiple gunshot wounds. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Following the investigation, Edmonton Police have charged 21-year-old Tolga Boyaci with second-degree murder.

The second male taken into custody has since been released.

Police are not seeking any additional suspects.
