Man charged with 2nd-degree murder in 2023 Old Strathcona homicide

A 50-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a man in Old Strathcona, near Whyte Avenue, in October 2023.

The Edmonton Police Service says Jordan McDonald, 33, died of a gunshot wound. He was found in an apartment building on 106 Street and 80 Avenue on the morning of Oct. 11, 2023. Police previously identified the victim as being 32 years old.

Officers were responding to a weapons complaint.

On Saturday, Sean Broadley was arrested and charged. The allegation against him has not been tested in court. Police say he did not know McDonald.
