Celeigh Cardinal has always had a passion for music. Growing up in northern Alberta, she started singing when she was four and writing songs at the age of 11.
“Music is always felt like the only thing that I love to do, the thing that I want to do. It’s something that I feel called to do. It’s also the only job that I actually like,” said Cardinal.
That passion for music is soon to be featured in the 2025 Juno Awards. The Cree and Métis singer-songwriter is nominated in two categories: Adult Contemporary Album of the Year and Contemporary Indigenous Artists of the Year.
“I was really in shock when I found out that I was nominated for two – I honestly wasn’t even expecting one. So I was in shock, took a little bit, once sunk in, I felt amazing,” said Cardinal.

This will be Cardinal’s second Juno’s, but her first time attending. She won a Juno in 2020, when in-person events were canceled because of the pandemic.
“This will be my first time being a nominee at the award,” said Cardinal.
But with her nomination, Cardinal hopes this will open more doors, and inspire Indigenous artists in Canada.
“I hope that me continuing to do this is someway and somehow causes inspiration or makes people feel seen or like they belong in the music industry and they want to pursue it.”
Cardinal will head to Vancouver for the 2025 Juno Award, which will be held in Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on March 30.
