The west sidewalk of the High Level Bridge is expected to be closed for three days after heavy rainfall caused a slope failure near the bridge.
The 97 Avenue west bridge approach is also being temporarily closed.
The City of Edmonton says the closures will allow crews to complete drainage repairs and stabilize the northwest slope of the bridge, near Ezio Faraone Park.
Pedestrians are asked to use the southeast staircase and then cross over to the west sidewalk to fully cross the bridge. The route, however, is not accessible for people using wheelchairs, scooters or other mobility devices. Cyclists are being asked to carry their bikes or use the staircase bike rails.

The city acknowledged the closures will “significantly affect pedestrians and cyclists, as it is one of Edmonton’s busiest active transportation connections across the North Saskatchewan River.”
