Ahead of Tuesday’s phase 2 parking ban, some Edmonton residents get wrong notice due to tech error

As the City of Edmonton prepares for the phase 2 parking ban, beginning Tuesday, some residents received phase 1 notifications instead of phase 2 notifications. Officials say this is due to a technical error.

Michael Steger of the Parks and Roads Service department told CityNews they are experiencing an error with the automated system that feeds the emails and text messages and the roadway snow-clearing map.

“A correction notice is underway and being sent to all recipients with the correct information,” he said.

The phase 2 parking ban for residential roadways starts Tuesday at 7 a.m. Signage for neighbourhood clearing was being completed Monday.

The parking ban is expected to last up to 10 days, depending on weather, with each neighbourhood affected for approximately 72 hours.

Under the phase 2 ban, vehicles parked on residential streets may be ticketed. Residents can continue to park in their driveways or garages during the ban and on cleared streets where parking is normally permitted.
