Motorcyclist jumps red light, collides with car in northeast Edmonton

On Tuesday afternoon a serious crash involving a motorcycle was reported at 137 Avenue around 42 Street in northeast Edmonton, causing all westbound lanes along the avenue to close and eastbound lanes were reduced to one lane.

According to Edmonton Police Service (EPS), at approximately 1:30 p.m. a Hyundai Kona traveling eastbound on 137 Avenue turning northbound into Clareview Town Centre just west of 42 Street was struck by a Suzuki motorcycle that had accelerated through the red light.

EPS say the 25-year-old man riding the motorcycle was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and is in stable condition. The driver of the Hyundai, a 34-year-old man sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

The roadway was reopened Tuesday evening.
