Charges laid in fatal northeast Edmonton shooting

Edmonton police say a 19-year-old has been charged in connection to a fatal shooting on Monday.

EPS says officers responded to a report of a shooting near 147 Avenue and 77 Street.

When officers arrived, they reportedly found a 38-year-old man in medical distress. He was treated by officers and paramedics, before being declared deceased.

An autopsy Wednesday confirmed the identity of the deceased as Ryan Lariviere. The Edmonton Medical Examiner says Lariviere died from a gunshot wound.

Police have since taken 19-year-old Muktar Mohammed-Ali into custody, and have charged him with second-degree murder and pointing a firearm.
