ASAA, Hudl announce 3-year deal to stream various Alberta high school sport provincials

Albertans will soon be able to livestream high school sports on Hudl.

The high school sports governing body — Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association (ASAA) — has announced a new three-year deal with Hudl that includes all provincial championship games.

“We are excited to announce this partnership,” said John Paton, Executive Director for ASAA. “This will support the Strategic Plan of the ASAA to better promote and support high school athletic programs across the province. Hudl is an incredibly innovative company, which shares our values in putting student-athletes first and providing quality and memorable experiences.”

Hudl is a leader in sports at the grassroots level and that currently helps over 200,000 teams by providing a home for their video data and analytics.

“Our team is honored to have Alberta be our first international contract for live streaming high school sports,” said Brittany Mattern, sales manager of Canada for Hudl. “John and the ASAA are focused on creating opportunities for the students and member schools they serve and we are thrilled to be a part of it.”

The new deal will come into effect immediately and begin by covering football and volleyball games on Nov. 18.

With the new deal, both the ASAA and Hudl will be offering a free trial showcasing three games on Saturday. The games are as follows:

  • Football — Tier I Semifinals — St. Francis (Calgary) @ Raymond — kickoff 1 p.m.;
  • Volleyball — 2A Girls Central Zone Championship — 3:45 p.m. start;
  • Volleyball — 3A Boys Central Zone Championship — 5 p.m. start.

Following the free trial weekend, those wanting to catch high school sports games will need to purchase packages or game passes. Package prices are as follows:
