Canadian rock band The Beaches are getting ready to play the Heritage Classic this Sunday in Edmonton.

The Toronto-based band is playing at 2:30 p.m. Sunday ahead of puck drop at Commonwealth Stadium. Alberta’s own Nickelback is performing at halftime.

“Really excited, it’s an honour to play for the NHL. We are big Nickelback fans, so we are really excited,” said The Beaches lead singer Jordan Miller.

Miller told CityNews she’s excited for a Battle of Alberta crowd.

“I’m from Toronto, so I don’t have a dog in the fight. I’m just really excited to see some rowdy ‘Albertonians’ … is that how you say it? I’m not sure sorry. Albertans! Some rowdy Albertans go against each other. I kinda love chaos, so I’m hoping to see some of that.”

The band is currently touring their ‘Blame My Ex’ album and will be back in Edmonton for a sold-out show at Midway Nov. 8.
