Teen in hospital after being hit by pick-up at 97 Street and 117 Avenue

Edmonton police say 97 Street and 117 Avenue is temporarily closed after a pedestrian collision.
EPS says officers responded to the intersection around 2:45 p.m., after a report that a 15-year-old girl was hit by a pick-up truck.
Witnesses say a Chevy Silverado pick-up truck was travelling southbound on 97 Street in the first lane, while an ETS Transit Bus was stopped in the second lane at 117 Avenue. The teen girl was on the north side of the intersection and walking eastbound across 97 Street when she was struck by the Silverado.
The teen was taken to hospital in critical condition.
EPS says the driver of the truck did stay at the scene until police arrived.
Police are diverting traffic as southbound 118 Avenue and eastbound 117 Avenue from 98 Street is closed for the investigation.

Paramedics treated and transported the girl to hospital in critical condition. The male driver of the Chevy remained on scene until police arrived.
The Edmonton Police Service’s Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) has since taken over the investigation. The investigation is ongoing, and thus no charges have been laid at this time.
