Edmonton activates extreme weather response due to wildfire smoke

Smoky skies have prompted the City of Edmonton to activate its extreme weather response.
The city’s air quality is expected to remain high risk through until at least Saturday.
That means facilities such as rec centres, pools and libraries will be open for those looking to escape the smoke.
Social agencies will also be distributing N95 masks to those in need.
The City encouraging residents to what they can to reduce smoke exposure – and to check in on anyone who might be at greater risk from the hazy skies.
