3 dead, 3 injured after speeding car rolls off road in southeast Edmonton: police

Police say three people were killed and three others were injured after their vehicle lost control and rolled off the road in southeast Edmonton early Sunday morning.

The Edmonton Police Service says the crash happened on Ellerslie Road and 17 Street before 1 a.m.

Police were told a Tesla with six occupants, all adults, were driving eastbound on Ellerslie Road “at a high rate of speed.”

The driver of the vehicle is believed to have lost control, and the car rolled off the road several times.

Police say two men and one women were killed in the crash. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The three other occupants of the vehicle were all taken to hospital. Two men were in critical condition as of 10:30 a.m. Sunday, while a woman’s condition was described as serious but stable.

Investigators believe speed was significant factor in the crash. The EPS major collision investigations section is investigating.

Police are asking anyone with information or dash cam footage of the incident to come forward.
