Homicide victim in apartment north of Chinatown was shot, autopsy confirms

Police say the man who was found dead in an apartment building north of Chinatown Saturday was a victim of homicide.

The Edmonton Police Service says an autopsy conducted Tuesday concluded 35-year-old Gabriel Dumont died of a gunshot injury.

Officers responded Saturday around 5:30 a.m. to the report of a critically injured man in the lobby of the building at 97 Street and 109 Avenue in the McCauley area.

Officers and EMS arrived and found the man dead “with obvious injuries,” police described at the time.

Police are continuing their investigation.

A neighbour told CityNews there were incidents at that apartment in the past.
