Edmonton’s city services will continue at full capacity on the day of the Queen’s mourning after the Alberta government says the day won’t be a holiday.

BACKGROUND: Alberta will not make day of the Queen’s funeral a provincial holiday

The announcement early Wednesday evening states the city will continue to honour the mourning period marked for Sept. 19 and will cancel some events in response.

Edmonton’s city workplaces and services will maintain their regular schedule.

Various buildings and bridges across the city will continue to be lit purple until the evening of the 19th. Flags will be raised at sunset on Sep. 19.
