Lac La Biche fair closes early after attendees bear sprayed: RCMP

Two boys used bear spray on people attending a fair in Lac La Biche, Alta., on Saturday, witnesses told police.

RCMP say the Lac La Biche Summer Days event ended shortly after 10:30 p.m. after the alleged bear spray incident.

Police say two minors were responsible for using bear spray on festival goers.

RCMP allege officers patrolling the event were alerted after they heard people screaming.

The two boys were arrested nearby.

Police say one was charged with assault and was released on conditions.

The other was charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon and administering a noxious substance. He was awaiting a bail hearing as of Sunday afternoon.

EMS personnel assisted the people who had been bear sprayed.

The Lac La Biche Summer Days festival lasted until Monday.

Lac La Biche is roughly 215 northeast of Edmonton.
