IKEA Canada now offering Swedish meatballs — and more — to go

BURLINGTON (NEWS 1130) — While you’ll still have to build any furniture you buy yourself, IKEA stores in Canada are now offering to assemble meals for takeout.

In provinces where dining-in is allowed, you can still have your Swedish meatballs and lingonberry sauce where you shop but in provinces and cities where in-store cafes have been closed amid the pandemic, there’s a to-go option starting Monday.

“We know that many of our customers look forward to an affordable family meal at the IKEA Restaurant when they visit our stores. We want to be there for our customers – whether they prefer to dine-in or takeout,” writes Danielle Beauchesne, head of IKEA Food.

“Our new Restaurant takeout option offers an easy way for Canadians to enjoy their IKEA favourites, however they choose to.”

The new takeout offer is in addition to the existing ‘grab and go’ options like hot dogs and frozen yogurt.
