Ottawa Senators player tests positive for COVID-19, first player in NHL infected with virus

OTTAWA (NEWS 1130) — The first player in the NHL tests positive for COVID-19.
The Ottawa Senators say one of its players has tested positive for the novel coronavirus and has mild symptoms. That player is in self-isolation while the entire team has been advised to self-isolate.
“The health of our players, fans, and community remains our highest priority. We will continue to do everything we can to help ensure our players, staff, fans and the greater community remain safe and healthy during this time of uncertainty due to the spread of the coronavirus,” reads a statement from the team.
The NHL has not named the player.
On Sunday, the Vancouver Canucks confirmed an administrative staff member tested positive for the virus.
