Military convoys travelling from Edmonton to Wainwright this week

Multiple convoys of army vehicles will move from Edmonton to Wainwright over the course of four days this week.

From Thursday to Saturday, the Canadian Army vehicles will go from Edmonton’s Canadian Forces base to the one in Wainwright – some 220 kilometres away.

The convoys will consist of various military vehicles and support equipment travelling along designated routes. The move is being made to maintain a “combat-ready force capable of responding to domestic and international operations,” the Canadian Army said in a news release.

“There is no risk to public safety associated with these planned movements however, motorists are advised to exercise caution when encountering military convoys and maintain a safe following distance.”
