RCMP determine no ‘criminal intent’ after man approaches children about his Chihuahuas

RED DEER (660 NEWS) — RCMP in Red Deer have determined there was no criminal intent after a man who was searching for his “Chihuahuas” attempted to speak with students at Holy Family School during recess. The case was initially a suspected child luring, however, police are no longer investigating. Police commend the children for responding appropriately to strangers and reporting this incident to school authorities.
The incident took place this morning around 10 a.m. when a grey truck with two men inside stopped at the Holy Family School while students were outside for recess.
It was initially reported that the passenger exited the vehicle and asked the children if they would like to get in the vehicle and if they had “seen his Chihuahuas”.
After the children refused, the man returned to the truck and the driver pulled a U-turn further down the street and drove by the playground again.
The passenger is described as 50 to 60-years-old, balding, and wearing a black pullover hoodie.
The driver is described as roughly 50-years-old, with a white beard, glasses and a black jacket.
