No injuries after WestJet plane slides off Edmonton runway

EDMONTON _ A few scary moments for those on board a WestJet plane Friday night as it slid off an icy taxiway at the Edmonton International Airport.

There were 77 passengers or crew members on board and none were hurt.

WestJet flight 173 was leaving for Victoria, B.C., at around 6 p.m. when it slid off the taxiway before the plane reached the runway.

One passenger says the plane was stuck in a field until a bus could take them to the terminal.

WestJet says 55 of the passengers will fly to Victoria via Calgary Friday night and the rest will be offered flights Saturday.

The airline and the Transportation Safety Board are reviewing what happened.
