Police shoot suspect after 7-hour standoff in town northwest of Edmonton

Police say a suspect was shot by an Alberta Mountie during an armed domestic situation that began Tuesday night and ended Wednesday morning.
Fox Creek RCMP say officers were called to a home around 10:15 p.m., and that multiple attempts were made to get the man to surrender.
Police say seven hours after first arriving on scene, there was a “confrontation with the suspect” and an officer fired their weapon.
The suspect was injured and taken to hospital via STARS air ambulance.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has been notified.
Around 5:30 a.m., Fox Creek RCMP issued a shelter in place for residents living nearby. It was lifted 20 minutes later.
