Edmonton KDays kicking off Friday

After the Calgary Stampede came to a close on Sunday, Edmonton is kicking off KDays on Friday.

It’s Edmonton’s KDays kickoff this Friday after the Stampede came to a close Sunday.

All the usual dizzy-inducing rides will be here – along with 50 new foods available from cinnamon-flavoured corn dog to pickled flavour cotton candy.

“We really want to make sure KDays is an accessible experience for Edmontonians to come together and celebrate everything that we have to offer,” said Tya Waterman, the director of communications and connections with Explore Edmonton.

Edmonton Mayor Andrew Knack tried to calm nerves regarding LRT safety by saying, “I would also encourage people that you can get that day pass for families on transit, which makes it a little easier. And with the fact that we just recently brought on another 30 transit peace officers, people can feel safe and secure while they’re enjoying their transit ride over to KDays.”

KDays gets about half as many visitors as the Calgary Stampede — around 700,000 to 800,000 — and it all starts Friday.
