Police recover body of crane driver who went over bridge into river near Grande Prairie

The driver of a crane that went off a bridge and into a river in northwestern Alberta last month has been found dead.

RCMP provided that update Tuesday without specifying exactly when the body was recovered.

“Crews are still working on recovering the crane… avoid using boats and drones in the area,” Clairmont RCMP said.

The commercial vehicle hit a guardrail of the Wapiti River Bridge and went into the water on June 16.

Police, fire, and search and rescue volunteers responded to the scene.
