Police seek dashcam footage in North Edmonton shooting

Edmonton police are asking residents and motorists to review dash camera and surveillance footage as investigators continue to search for clues in a shooting that injured two people in the city’s northeast earlier this year.

The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. on April 24 in the Schonsee neighbourhood, according to the Edmonton Police Service (EPS). Officers responded to reports of gunfire at a residence near 78 Street and 173 Avenue after multiple shots were allegedly fired at occupants as they arrived home.

Emergency medical crews treated two adults at the scene before transporting them to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said no other injuries were reported.

Investigators have since reviewed area surveillance footage and believe the suspect exited a dark-coloured truck that had been parked along the west curb of 78 Street near 173 Avenue since approximately 9:45 p.m. that evening.

According to police, the suspect fled immediately after the shooting, leaving the area in the truck and travelling eastbound on 173 Avenue.

As the investigation continues, EPS is appealing to the public for any video footage that may help identify the suspect or vehicle. Investigators are particularly interested in dash camera or security footage recorded between 9:45 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. on April 24 that shows a dark-coloured truck travelling along 173 Avenue or southbound on 78 Street from 173 Avenue.

Anyone with information or video related to the incident is asked to contact Edmonton police at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
