A man previously convicted of defrauding people who were selling items online is now wanted by police for allegedly being involved in the same scheme.
The Edmonton Police Service says Ryan Kenzie, 46, was convicted of nine fraud offences in Edmonton and Sherwood Park between April and October last year.
Police say in those instances, Kenzie would meet and convince the sellers of phones, watches, or jewellery that he had sent an e-transfer, then leave with the item without paying.
After serving his sentence, Kenzie was released on probation.
Edmonton police have now charged Kenzie with fraud after alleging he became involved in the same scheme yet again. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
“The repeated nature of these incidents suggests this individual may have targeted many more people,” said EPS Const. Emily Kostuik. “By raising awareness, we hope to prevent others from falling victim to fraud and encourage anyone impacted to report it to police.”
Police recommend people use the EPS’ safe “buy and sell exchange zones” at various police station parking lots.
