Man, 18, charged in Whyte Ave shooting that injured 4

An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with a shooting outside a restaurant on Whyte Avenue that injured four people in late October.
The Edmonton Police Service says shots were fired around 3 a.m. on Oct. 25 after individuals were allegedly fighting outside the restaurant on 85 Avenue and Gateway Boulevard.
One woman and three men were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries; they have since been released from hospital.
Edmonton police say they arrested a suspect outside a home on Winterburn Road and Yellowhead Trail later that day – around 9:30 p.m. Authorities allege they found a firearm believed to be used in the shooting.
“We were able to quickly remove this firearm off the streets and are thankful that the individuals who were harmed by the accused have been released from medical care,” said Det. James Robbins with the EPS investigations branch.
Phoenix Papin, 18, has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, pointing a firearm, assault with a weapon and aggravated assault. He remains in custody and his scheduled to appear in court Nov. 26.
None of the allegations have been tested in court.
