The Government of Alberta says the Waverley Day Care in Edmonton has been closed due to safety concerns.
This is the second closure by the province in two days after Willowbrae Academy West Point Centre was closed on Thursday.

Waverley Day Care — which operates out of the same building as the Waverley School (EPSB) — was placed on a probationary licence with a term to expire Oct. 31 due to a number of non-compliances.
However, due to ongoing concerns and increased risk, Child Care Licensing believed the daycare should be closed as there was an imminent danger to the health, safety, and well-being of children attending the program.
This decision meant the probationary licence was cancelled early.
According to the Province, the closure will affect 54 children and 56 child-care spaces.
“Parents affected by the closure of the program were notified in person on Oct. 10. Parents not informed in person were notified by email using the contact information provided by the child-care provider. In addition, the Notice of Cancellation, which describes the reason for a licence cancellation, was posted on the door of the facility,” read a statement by the Province.
Those families will also be provided support while looking for alternative child-care options.
