Multiple injuries after suspected drunk driver goes wrong way on Anthony Henday: police

By News Staff

Edmonton police say a possible drunk driver crashed into a vehicle while going the wrong way on Anthony Henday Drive early Monday morning.

The Edmonton Police Service says the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta – a 22-year-old man – was travelling east in the westbound lanes of the Anthony Henday when he collided with an Acura TLX around 4:30 a.m.

All three occupants of the Acura were hospitalized with serious, non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Charges are pending against the driver of the Jetta, who was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police suspect alcohol was a factor in the collision. They are investigating.

The westbound Anthony Henday Drive reopened to traffic around 10 a.m.
