Man charged in Calgary, Leduc re-vinning investigation

A Calgary man is facing a litany of charges following a months-long investigation into a re-vinning vehicle operations.
Alberta RCMP say in February 2024, its auto theft unit began an investigation into multiple vehicles that were suspected to be re-vinned and registered in the Calgary and Leduc area.
As a result of the investigation, police recovered a RAM 2500, RAM 1500 and a Chevrolet Cruze, all of which had been re-vinned.
RCMP say the value of the recovered vehicles is around $175,000.
Officers also seized a loaded 9mm handgun that had the serial number removed.
Twenty-six-year-old Arshdeep Malhi, of Calgary, has been charged with four counts of uttering a forged document, trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5,000, unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm, and possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number.
He was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released from custody.
Malhi is set to return to court on Aug. 15 in Leduc.
