Edmonton police issue warning for known sex offender being released from jail

Edmonton police are issuing are public safety notice, warning the public of the release of a convicted violent sexual offender.

The EPS says 38-year-old Alexandre Passechnikov is living in Edmonton and has recently been released from jail. Police believe he may commit another violent assault.

He is subject to a court order and conditions, which are being managed by the Behavioural Assessment Unit of the Edmonton Police Service.

Part of his conditions include a 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew, and he’s not allowed to travel outside of Edmonton unless he has written approval from his supervisor.

In addition, he’s not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs, and he’s not allowed to carry any kind of weapon.

Last time Passechnikov was released from jail, he was rearrested within a week after he assaulted a woman.

The EPS has described Passechnikov as 6’1″, roughly 185 lbs, with blue eyes, and dark brown or grey hair.

Police are urging the public to take caution and note any potential breaches to the EPS at 780-423-4567.
