Crews put out fire at Edmonton Convention Centre

By News Staff

A potential major incident was averted at the Edmonton Convention Centre after quick action from fire crews Sunday.

Edmonton Fire says a blaze broke out just outside the east side of the facility around 1:20 p.m.

Crews were on the scene within three minutes of being called; the fire was declared out 10 minutes later.

Fire officials say smoke from the blaze entered the convention centre, which will have to be ventilated as a result.
