Senior dies days after Edmonton crash in which no injuries were reported

Police are looking for witnesses to a west Edmonton crash that became fatal when a senior died days later.

The Edmonton Police Service says the collision between a Toyota Camry and a Mazda 3 happened on Whitemud Drive and 170 Street on April 30 around 1:30 p.m.

Police say the 82-year-old man driving the Camry was exiting from westbound Whitemud Drive onto northbound 170 Street when he was struck on the driver’s side by the Mazda, driven by a 29-year-old man.

Neither driver reported any injuries, nor did the 78-year-old female passenger of the Camry.

Police say both parties attended a collision reporting centre on their own.

But police say the 78-year-old woman’s condition “declined significantly at home,” and she was taken to hospital on May 2. She died the following day, and police were notified the day after that.

Police are investigating and looking for witnesses or dashcam footage from anyone travelling in the area at the time. They are asked to call 780-423-4567.
