UCP leadership candidates debate health care, pension plans

Todd Loewen, Rebecca Schulz, Danielle Smith, Rajan Sawhney, and Travis Toews all took part.

Some of the topics addressed included supporting returning emergency medical services to municipalities, reforming surgical wait times, and replacing a national old-age pension plan with a provincial one.

Meanwhile, Smith once again voiced her support for the sovereignty act. Several other candidates, including Schulz, Toews and Sawhney, said they would not support the act, as did Jean in his opening statements.

The UCP holds an official leadership debate in Edmonton on Tuesday at the Maclab Theatre in Citadel from 6-8 p.m.
