EPS charge man in fatal shooting in Northeast Edmonton over the weekend

Edmonton Police have charged a 56-year-old man in connection to the death that occurred in Northeast Edmonton on Saturday.

Police say around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 06, they were alerted to a weapons complaint in the area of 162 Avenue and 52 Street.

After arriving, officers found a 63-year-old woman unresponsive and a 17-year-old suffering from serious injuries.

The 17-year-old was taken to hospital in non-life-threatening condition, but the 63-year-old woman who was identified as Kirandeep Grewal was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy Tuesday, which confirmed Grewal was killed from a gunshot wound.

EPS have since charged 56-year-old Jasbir Grewal with second-degree murder and aggravated assault.
