Sahota died in hospital April 15, a week after police responded to an ‘assault’ at the school.

EPS say they got the call at 2:44 p.m. on April 8, arriving on scene to find the teen with life-threatening injuries.

A fundraising page was set up to help the teen’s parents navigate the loss of their child. It has raised more than $180,000.

“The hospital gave him the best treatment possible but the injuries were too severe,” reads the GoFundMe page.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, the same day classes resume at McNally High School. Edmonton Public says it will have grief counsellors and crisis teams ready to help students and staff navigate the tragedy.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation, and police say they have a ‘number of’ youth suspects identified.
