HARDISTY (660 NEWS) – A man is recovering in hospital after being shot by the RCMP in Central Alberta.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating after the man was shot by RCMP Sunday night.
Killam RCMP was tracking a stolen truck along Highway 13 near the town of Hardisty, east of Red Deer.
The truck was believed to be the same vehicle involved in an earlier incident with police.
Officers used a spike belt to stop the truck and once out of the vehicle, the driver got into a confrontation with police where one officer opened fire.
The man was transported to an Edmonton hospital in serious condition.
RCMP are still investigating the actions of the man and the events that led to the confrontation with police.
