125 impaired drivers pulled off Alberta roads over Labour Day weekend

Mounties in Alberta pulled dozens of impaired drivers off the road during enhanced enforcement over the Labour Day long weekend,

Alberta RCMP said Monday that 125 drivers were removed from the road as part of a provincewide push to curb dangerous driving during one of the year’s busiest travel periods.

Police say officers issued a range of roadside sanctions, including 11 24‑hour suspensions, 26 WARNS, 85 FAILS, and three suspensions for novice or commercial drivers where any presence of alcohol is prohibited.

Alongside impaired‑driving enforcement, officers handed out 1,125 traffic tickets. More than half were for speeding, while others involved distracted driving and seatbelt violations.

The long weekend saw three injury collisions and two fatal crashes, according to the RCMP. Two people were killed.
