Police seek information about suspect vehicles set on fire after fatal shooting at northwest Edmonton business

Edmonton police are investigating a man’s death as a homicide after an autopsy showed he died of gunshot wounds, and authorities are looking for information about two suspect vehicles.
The Edmonton Police Service says Hiwa Palani, 39, was shot Tuesday morning at a business near 112 Avenue and 149 Street. He was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.
Police said earlier this week a man was seen fleeing the area on foot around the time of the shooting.
Now they’re saying a grey 2009 Mazda 3 was used during the homicide and then driven to 213 Street and 108 Avenue, where it was set on fire. The blaze was later extinguished by witnesses in the area.
Edmonton police believe the suspect then got into a 2007 red Ford Fusion and drove it to Ada Boulevard and 50 Street, where it was also set on fire. That blaze was later extinguished by Edmonton Fire Rescue Services.
The suspect fled on foot into the river valley, authorities say.
Police say both vehicles were found to have front bumper body damage.
The EPS released photos of the vehicles in the hope anyone can identify them and the people associated to them.
