Mounties fatally shoot allegedly armed suspect in Cold Lake

Alberta RCMP says one person is dead after being shot by a Mountie Thursday afternoon in Cold Lake.
Around 4:48 p.m. on June 25, RCMP responded to a domestic call for service. Officers attended the scene and learned that a suspect had a firearm.
Police tried to communicate with the individual, but those efforts were unsuccessful. Following this, an altercation occurred, and at least one officer fired their service weapon, hitting the suspect. They were declared dead at the scene.
Mounties note that two people were able to flee the residence to safety prior to the incident, and no other injuries were reported.
Due to the nature of the matter, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has been alerted to the shooting.
