‘We’ll be prepared’: National men’s soccer team gears up for rainy Monday match in Edmonton

With the heavy rainfall expected to continue across Alberta well into the work week, the Canadian Men’s Soccer team will likely be playing on a very wet pitch when they take on Uzbekistan at Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium.

But in a Sunday afternoon press conference, the team’s head coach said they’re ready for whatever mother nature brings.

“We’ll be prepared to pivot if the pitch is a little bit soggy,” said Jesse Marsch, head coach for the Canadian men’s soccer team. “But, I think both teams are on the same boat.”

Monday’s friendly game comes ahead of the World Cup, which kicks off June 11.
