Boys, 13, charged after woman sprayed with fire extinguisher at northeast Edmonton bus stop

Edmonton police say two 13-year-old boys have been charged after a 66-year-old woman was sprayed with a fire extinguisher at a bus shelter in northeast Edmonton last month.

The Edmonton Police Service says it happened April 19 around 9 a.m. at a bus shelter on McConachie Boulevard and 64 Street.

Police say the woman was approached by two young boys. One of them had a fire extinguisher and allegedly discharged it, covering the woman and bus shelter before fleeing.

Paramedics treated the woman on scene.

Police previously described the attack as random.

Authorities say tips from the public led to the two boys being arrested, with police saying one or both were involved in four separate incidents.

One teen was charged with assault with a weapon, housebreaking with intent, mischief under $5,000 and theft under $5,000, while the other was charged with theft under $5,000 and assault with a weapon.
