25-year-old man killed in collision: Edmonton police

Edmonton police (EPS) are investigating a fatal collision involving a 25-year-old man early Sunday.

According the EPS, at approximately 2:40 a.m., a BMW was travelling westbound on 41 Avenue SW when it lost control and left the roadway on the north side of 41 Avenue SW just west of Allard Road SW.

The vehicle allegedly then struck two trees and a light standard before coming to a stop.

The driver was declared dead on the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

“Road conditions are not believed to have contributed to this collision; however, speed is considered a factor,” EPS said.

The investigation is ongoing.
