6 people hospitalized after residential fire in southeast Edmonton

Six people were taken to hospital as a precaution after a fire broke out in a residential building in southeast Edmonton on Friday.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) was called about a fire near 85 Street and 39B Avenue just before 1 p.m.

EFRS said that six units were dispatched to the scene. The fire was declared out in less than an hour.

Six patients were transported to hospital by Emergency Health Services as a precaution. Their condition was not specified.

No damage estimate was available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
