Police say the drivers of two vehicles involved in a collision in north Edmonton on Tuesday morning needed to be hospitalized.
The Edmonton Police Service says a 19-year-old man sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries while a 44-year-old man suffered only minor injuries.
The collision happened at 153 Avenue and Castle Downs Road around 9:25 a.m.
Authorities say the 19-year-old was driving his SUV north on Castle Downs when he “quickly lane changed” and “proceeded into the intersection” to avoid a vehicle that stopped for a yellow light.
Police add at the same time, the 44-year-old man was driving south on Castle Downs Road, turning east.
The two vehicles collided and sustained frontal damage.

Edmonton police don’t believe speed or alcohol were factors in the collision.
The intersection of 153 Avenue and Castle Downs Road was closed to traffic for a few hours as a result.
Police continue to investigate.
