Edmonton police have charged a 52-year-old man after seizing a large cache of illegal firearms from a home in the city’s northeast.
According to the Edmonton Police Service, officers with the Investigative Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the Hermitage neighbourhood on Oct. 30, following an investigation into illegal firearms. Inside the home, police found several loaded and unsecured guns, some with defaced serial numbers.
Officers also seized ammunition and prohibited devices during the search.
Frank Budesheim, 52, now faces 14 firearm-related charges, including possession of restricted or prohibited firearms and possession of those weapons without a licence or registration.
“Illegal firearms pose a significant and unacceptable risk to community safety,” said Staff Sergeant Eric Stewart with the Investigative Response Team. He added that targeting people who possess or traffic illegal guns is critical to reducing violence and preventing harm in neighbourhoods.
Budesheim is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 26.
