Police in Sherwood Park still looking for Facebook Marketplace iPhone thieves

Mounties are releasing images of two suspects believed to be involved in the alleged thefts of iPhones during Facebook Marketplace transactions in Sherwood Park last month.

Strathcona County RCMP believe the same group of four suspects is responsible for the alleged robberies of two iPhones from two different sellers on Dec. 23, 2025.

One of the suspects is described as a man in his late 20s, about five-foot-six, weighing 110 lbs., with a thin beard running along his chin. He was wearing eyeglasses and a black jacket with fur-lined hood at the time of the alleged thefts.

Just after 8:45 p.m. that night, Mounties say a suspect met a person selling an iPhone at a Sherwood Park business. Authorities say the suspect grabbed the box and ran to a vehicle with three other suspects inside.

Shortly after, RCMP say the same suspect met another person selling an iPhone – this time at the victim’s Sherwood Park home.

“The suspect deployed a bear spray type substance at the victim, stole the phone, and fled,” police said in a news release on New Year’s Eve.

Three of the suspects were reported to be inside an older model, four-door black Nissan car. All three were wearing blue masks, police add.

Authorities also released an image of the suspect vehicle.
