The officers then attempted lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived at the scene. Despite this, both men were pronounced dead.

Through the initial stages of the investigation, police believe a dark-coloured SUV may have been in the area at the time of the shooting. Autopsies are expected to take place on Tuesday, Dec. 16, and Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Police do believe that the incident was targeted, and an investigation is ongoing.

As part of that investigation, police are asking if anyone who lives near Silverberry Road and 23 Avenue, as well as 34 Street and 29 Street, is being asked to come forward with their dash camera or security footage between 2 p.m. on Dec. 11 and 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 12.

Anyone who may have any information is asked to contact investigators at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
