Edmonton International Airport continues to climb towards pre-pandemic passenger levels

The Edmonton International Airport (YEG) says, despite a year of economic volatility, geopolitical tension, and rapidly evolving travel behaviours, it saw an increase in travelers in 2025.

YEG says in 2025, 8.14 million passengers took to the sky, which is a 2.8 per cent increase from 2024.

Despite the increase, YEG still hasn’t fully returned to pre-COVID numbers, but it is inching closer to the 8.15 million passengers that were served in 2019.

“Reaching near pre-pandemic passenger levels against a backdrop of uncertainty and shifting travel behaviours is a milestone we are proud of — and one we did not arrive at by chance. We made deliberate decisions: staying agile, maintaining discipline, and never losing sight of the long view. The growth we are seeing at YEG is a direct reflection of the strength of our partnerships, the confidence our airline partners continue to place in us, and an unwavering commitment to driving economic prosperity for this region,” said Myron Keehn, President & CEO of the Edmonton International Airport, in a statement.

In 2025, the Edmonton International Airport began flights to Houston, Chicago, and Salt Lake City; however, officials noted that travel into the U.S. decreased by 15 per cent.

Other international travel saw an increase of 1.1 per cent, while domestic travel increased by 6.2 per cent, which was helped through new flights to Kamloops and Hamilton.
