Cyclist, 65, killed after being hit by SUV in southeast Edmonton

Police say a 65-year-old cyclist has died after he was struck by an SUV on Sunday afternoon – the latest traffic fatality in Edmonton.

The Edmonton Police Service says it happened around 2 p.m. on Sunday. They say the cyclist was crossing 34 Street at 28A Avenue in the southeast when he was struck by a Hyundai Tucson, driven by a 41-year-old man.

EMS treated and transported the cyclist to hospital with serious injuries, where he died of his injuries later that day.

The EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) is investigating.
