A construction milestone has been reached on the Valley Line West LRT project.
Marigold Infrastructure Partners announced on Wednesday that all concrete segments are in place for the elevated guideway along 87 Avenue.
The elevated guideway runs along 87 Avenue between 182 Street and 163 Street, connecting West Edmonton Mall and Misericordia Hospital Stations along the Valley Line West LRT.
With this portion of the Valley West LRT project being complete, the 400-tonne gantry crane, which was a key part of the construction and takes 14 people to operate, will be dismantled over the coming weeks.
Despite the structure being complete for the elevated guideway, work still needs to be done on the Overhead Catenary System (OCS), walkways, railings, and the West Edmonton Mall and Misericordia Hospital elevated stations.
Construction on the Valley West LRT is expected to be done in 2028 and will require testing before it can be used by the public.
